For complete application, please go to the website listed below.** Offered through OSU’s Engineering Department and primarily for high school girls and ethnic minorities traditionally under-represented in science and engineering, and for science, math and physics teachers interested in developing curricular materials to promote engineering activities in their classrooms. Students come to campus for a one-week residential summer camp and are paired with an engineering-oriented research group of faculty and current students who serve as mentors throughout the week. Tuition includes room, board, field trips, & materials instruction. Tuition assistance/scholarships available. How small is the nano world? From cutting-edge medical devices to environmental clean-up, nanotechnology is revolutionizing the world and changing many aspects of our daily lives. Conduct experiments, engage in hands-on activities, learn more about new discoveries, and use Scanning Electron Microscopes to find out more about this cutting-edge field. **For 9th - 12th graders.**

Although algebra is one of the most useful math classes you'll ever take, it can also be fun! This class will give you confidence in the skills you need to succeed in a high school algebra course. We'll put away our calculators while we learn about mental math, estimation, variables, and graphing. No calculators are allowed. This class is intended for 7th - 9th grade students who are about to take first-year of algebra, or would like to improve their basic math skills.

Learn to write in HTML, the language of the web, while building your very own page. By the end of the class, you will have a complete page with text and pictures ready to "Go Live" online! **For 6th - 8th Grade Students**

In this class, we'll focus on the fundamental skills that lead to success in calculus, while also catching glimpses of the beauty and application of this math. Our four sessions will teach you how to outwit your calculator and improve your footing in preparation for calculus. Topics include graphing, problem solving, fractions, trigonometry, and mental math. **This class is intended for students who are about to take first-year calculus, or want a preview of some of the exciting math that motivates the subject. ** For 10th - 12th graders & first-year college students.**

All online registrations will be waitlisted.** During this fun workshop you will create your own electric animal that can roam the great plains of your carpet at home. You will learn about how systems in animals can be modeled by different mechanical and electrical parts while you build your animal. **For 6th - 8th grade students only. Tuition includes cost of your robot.**

The ASE Program offers high school sophomores through seniors (going into grades 10-12) a chance to work with an engineer or scientist for eight weeks during the summer. Students also attend workshops, seminars, lectures, and leadership classes at the Mid-Summer Conference at Oregon State University on July 11 and 12. At a symposium on August 16, 2008 students will present their work in a poster session and during oral presentations at the University of Portland. The public is invited.
