Summer Experience in Science and Engineering for Youth (SESEY)
     
Dr. Skip Rochefort, Chemical Engineering professor, and Dr. Christine Kelly, Bioengineering professor - For high school students

**This is an informational post. For complete application, please go to the website listed below.** Offered through OSU’s Engineering Department and primarily for high school girls and ethnic minorities traditionally under-represented in science and engineering, and for science, math and physics teachers interested in developing curricular materials to promote engineering activities in their classrooms. Students come to campus for a one-week residential summer camp and are paired with an engineering-oriented research group of faculty and current students who serve as mentors throughout the week. Tuition includes room, board, field trips, & materials instruction. Tuition assistance/scholarships available. Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering (ASE)

The ASE Program offers high school sophomores through seniors (going into grades 10-12) a chance to work with an engineer or scientist for eight weeks during the summer. Students also attend workshops, seminars, lectures, and leadership classes at the Mid-Summer Conference at Oregon State University on July 11 and 12. At a symposium on August 16, 2008 students will present their work in a poster session and during oral presentations at the University of Portland. The public is invited.
